Males typically show more intense coloration, especially during breeding, while females are more subdued.

Care Requirements:

This species thrives in a well-maintained tank with plenty of hiding spots created from rocks or caves. They do best in a species-only or mixed African cichlid tank with compatible tank mates. Like all Aulonocara, they appreciate open swimming space and a sandy substrate for natural foraging behavior.

Diet:

Omnivorous – feed a varied diet of high-quality cichlid pellets, frozen or live foods (such as brine shrimp or bloodworms), and occasional vegetable matter. Avoid overfeeding to maintain vibrant colors and overall health.

Special Notes:

•Dragon Blood is a man-made color morph and does not occur naturally in Lake Malawi.

•Avoid housing with overly aggressive species.

•Regular water changes are essential to prevent health issues.
